Painted as a commission using the customer's own digital images as a starting point.  This involved a good deal of manipulation of tone and colour, and adjustments in the composition to arrive at a satisfactory pictorial balance which would fulfill the sense of place and time the client was looking for.  The artistic challenge was to unify the dominant foreground structure of the rocks (almost in sillhouette in the original images) with the hazy winter sunlight and sense of space in the distance.
