Froggat Edge Panorama

Derbyshire’s gritstone edges form a chain of linked walks which attract thousands of walkers to the Peak District.  This view combines Froggat Edge, Curbar Edge and Baslow Edge in the distance.  The overlying strata of weather resistant gritstone rises to the surface along this line.  The softer shales exposed beneath have eroded away more readily, creating wooded slopes which descend to the valley of the River Derwent below.  Atmospheric perspective is used to create a strong sense of recession and distance.
