Stanage

A ‘double’ image where the main image is set within a border or surround.  Discords of colour are employed to act as a foil to the main image and create a tension between the two.  The window within a window also emphasises the notion of a place as a unique location, and one to be preserved.  Stanage Edge is formed from a strata of tough gritstone which has withstood the erosive effects of wind, water and frost.  The high rock edge is a magnet for climbers and walkers.  The edge commands superb panoramic views overlooking the Hathersage and Edale Valleys and the distant hills of Derbyshire’s ‘White Peak’.
