Sunset Over Ridge #3

Version #2 (No. 239) re-worked.  Shapes, colours and tones are more refined here, softer edged and less vibrantly energetic - the resulting mood calmer.  The deep shadow resonates with the light above.  Opposing diagonals create energy while balancing each other out.  The location which inspired the image, and which has been treated with a good deal of licence, is called Winyard’s Nick, a very small and insignificant feature in the low ridge which runs from Higgar Tor across to Owler Tor and Millstone Edge, overlooking Hathersage valley in the Peak District.
