Abney Clough Autumn
 

A bright, cold autumn day.  Light plays across the remnants of autumn leaves bringing out rich harmonies of colour, tone and texture in the trees, a carpet of colour set in the fold of a valley on Abney Moor, just south of Hathersage.  Stone walls and field boundaries set up a half hidden rhythm across the composition providing a structural framework for the randomness of the foliage.  Light and shade, colour and texture are key elements.
