Kinder Scout is at the start of the southern end of the Pennine Way. This high peat moorland offers striking views over Edale valley towards Lose Hill and Back Tor (visible in this painting), and Mam Tor. The Kinder Scout plateau is a favourite destination for hill walkers. A clear winter sky, sunlight angled low over Edale Valley and a late morning frost lingering on the north facing slopes of Back Tor, provide a wintery backdrop to the warmer colours of the heather used in the foreground. |
